Supporting the Seymour Salmonid Society as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard

From January 2017 until August 2018, I was the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard. This provided me with the opportunity to represent BC’s voice in a field crucial to our regional economy and culture. Some of my work with Minister Dominic LeBlanc was focused on:

Marine Protected Areas: We are on schedule to protect 5% of our marine environment in 2017, and 10% by 2020.
Protecting Wild Salmon: Strengthening watershed protections and investing in coastline restoration.
Oil and Gas drilling Ban in the Arctic: Designating all our Arctic waters as off limits to future offshore Arctic oil and gas licensing.
Protecting our Killer Whale Population: We are committing to a strategy to protect our iconic Southern Resident Killer Whale population.
